System of a Down - Toxicity (2001)

I'll admit, I am a relatively new, fresh and unknowing SOAD fan. I liked their former single "Sugar" but didn't quite go for "Spiders". Well, I let them slip by. Then I hear that "System of a down's new song is out" and went and downloaded "Chop Suey!". Man was I ever sorry to ignore them and did I ever regret thinking they sucked. Well, I proceeded to download their whole album and came to like it alot. Then I bought the cd. This is one of the best albums on 2001 says me. System of a down deliver on their sophomore album and deliver with a vengeance. Let's have a look at the content analysis now.
Prison Song - What an opener. The first riff of the song is hard, heavy and makes an impression. The song starts heavy and doesn't really let up. This song is just so great. So very great. Daron adds to the chorus in this song but he growls sound a bit out of place. Listen to the words. 5
Needles - A decent song, let me just say "Pull the tape worm out of your ass!" 3
Deer Dance - This one kind of like Prison Song. Either way it's a decent song. "Pushing little children, with their fully-automatics, they like to push the weak around" is the emphasized lyric. 3
Jet Pilot - Just skip this song, there's no point to listen unless you wanna pass two minutes without any entertainment value whatsoever. 1
X - The music in this song is catchy but the lyrics are weak. 3
Chop Suey! - The first single. Great music and vocals. A highlight. A cool video as well. "Trust in my self-righteous suicide, I cry when angels deserve to die". There is a point in the song where Serj and Daron yell "Father!" and it sounds at first like "Fucker". 5
Bounce - I think this song is funny and I think it was meant to be. Read the lyrics, it's repetitive yes but it's funny in my opinion. 3
Forest - This is a great song. As good as Chop Suey. Nuff said. 5
ATWA - A very good mellow song, it's based on Charles Manson's view of the world. "You don't care about how I feel, I don't feel it anymore". 4
Science - I didn't used to like this song, but now I'm LOVING it, excellent track. 4
Shimmy - Pass. 1
Toxicity - Great song. Definately a great song to name the album after. It was originally called "Version 7.0" probably after the OTHER lyric "Software version 7 point o". The lyric it's officially named after is "The toxicity of our city". 5
Psycho - Meh. 2
Aerials - Beautiful song. Just beautiful. "Aerials in the sky, when you lose small mind you free your life, aerials so up high, when you free your eyes: eternal prize". 5
